Eve Hill News - What's going on in 2011

New Primary Care Health Care Assistant (HCA)

We are pleased to announce that a new member of staff, Donna, will be joining us from 1st August 2011.

She a Health Care Assistant, this is a new post for the practice. Donna will be assisting the nurses and the doctors with many things, for which she has been specially trained. This will provide more appointments for patients, and free up appointments for both nurses and doctors.

Donna will be available for new patient medicals, height and weight checks, blood pressure checks, some type of dressings and wound care, assisting with minor operations with the doctors, assisting in the diabetic, heart, asthma and COPD clinics.

She is well qualified and experienced and is relocating to the area.

Primary Care Alcohol Worker

Emily Fennell has joined the practice on Tuesdays as our Primary Care Alcohol Worker.

She is trained and experienced in helping patients who feel they would like to change their drinking habits, reduce their alcohol intake, or to get more information about drinking alcohol and it's effects, as well as what is a safe alcohol intake.

This is a service that is available to patients either by a referral from the doctor or nurse, but also as a self-referral - ask reception to book you an appointment with Emily.

NEW - Text message and email alerts

The practice is planning to pilot a service whereby we can text or email patients information such as
Flu clinic appointments
Notification of appointments for vaccination, diabetes, asthma, mental health nurse, heart clinics
Reminders for smear tests, medication reviews, blood pressure checks, blood tests and COPD checks
Other follow up appointments

The benefits of this might be:
Reduced numbers of missed appointments
Elimination of postal delay / loss of post problems
Emailing your blood test form for you to print at home (diabetes, heart clinic)

If you are interested in joining the pilot scheme for either text or emails or both, then a form can be obtained from the doctor, or from reception.

Training Doctors

From November 2011 Dr Harpreet Sur will be working with us, during her final year of GP training.  She is a trained and experienced doctor who is completing further training to be a GP.  She is working at the surgery on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

Also working with us are Dr Sofia Khan; she is with us full-time and will be here until February 2012.
